LocalNotaryFinder

Privacy Policy

Overview

LocalNotaryFinder ("we," "us," or "our") operates localnotaryfinder.com, a free directory of notary publics. This policy explains what information we collect from site visitors, how it's used, and the choices you have. It does not cover the notary business listings displayed on the site — see "Notary Listing Data" below for how that's different.

Information We Collect From Visitors

We do not require an account or login to use this site. The information we collect from visitors falls into three categories:

  • Analytics data — Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity collect pseudonymous usage data: pages viewed, approximate location (city/region level), device and browser type, and how you interact with the page (clicks, scroll depth, session recordings). This data is not tied to your name or contact details unless you separately provide them through the contact form.
  • Advertising cookies — we use Google AdSense to serve ads, which sets cookies to measure ad performance and, where permitted, personalize which ads you see based on your browsing activity. See "Advertising" below for your controls.
  • Contact form submissions — if you use our contact form, we collect the name, email, and message you provide, solely to respond to your inquiry.

Notary Listing Data

The notary business listings on this site (name, address, phone, hours, rating) are public business information — not personal data we collect from site visitors. This data is sourced from publicly available business directories and Google Maps listings, reflecting information each business has already made public. Phone numbers are not displayed in plain text; visitors must click "Show number" to reveal them, which limits automated scraping.

If you are a notary and want a listing corrected, updated, or removed, use our contact form — we respond to these requests.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for analytics (GA4, Microsoft Clarity) and advertising (Google AdSense). For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, a consent management platform asks for your preferences before non-essential cookies are set. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect how the site functions.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices.

Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third parties, each governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Google (Analytics, AdSense, Search Console)
  • Microsoft (Clarity)
  • Netlify (hosting and contact form processing)
  • Outscraper (source of the public business listing data we display)

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to opt out of its sale or sharing (California, EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions). To exercise these rights, contact us using the contact form. Because we collect very little personal data directly (see above), most requests can be resolved quickly.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site or our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
